Adult Faith Development
Adult Christians - just as much as children or teenagers -
are called to grow in their understanding of their own faith. Our relationships
with God change throughout our lives. Some people may find their faith
challenged by events in their own lives, others may feel a call to enter more
deeply into the mysteries of their life in Christ. As Jesus himself said, "I
came that they may have life and have it abundantly" (John 10:10). This process
of entering into the fullness of life never ceases.
The main means for Catholics to develop their faith are
through personal prayer, through the sacraments (especially the Eucharist in
which we are fed on the Word of God and the Body and Blood of Christ), and by
living their daily lives as far as possible in accordance with Christ's
commandments to love God and to love one another.
St Mary's is currently running the CaFE programme of video talks and discussions. This has proved to be a valuable way for members of the parish to grow in their understanding of the Catholic faith. Details of current activities can be found in our Bulletin & Diary.
